of Graham Jackson, District Governor 2008 / 2009

of Salford with Swinton.
Graham qualified as a Solicitor in 1979 and is
both the Solicitor and Secretary to Greater Manchester Probation
Board and the Deputy Coroner of the City of Manchester.
On the 13th September 1988 , Graham was inducted into
the then Salford Rotary Club and was a founder member of The
Rotary Club of Salford with Swinton in 2005. Graham was
President of Salford Rotary Club in 1998/1999. He has particular
interests in both International service and Group Study Exchange.
Indeed, whilst District International Chairman, he led on the
District 1280 International Centenary project to fund the building
of a children's home in Eritrea, in partnership with Hope and
Homes for Children. Graham has been fortunate to undertake Rotary
service projects in both Poland and Romania , visiting both countries
on many occasions over the last 10 years. He has also travelled
to Rotary events in both the USA and Denmark.
Graham was the youngest Scout in Salford ever to gain
the Queen Scout Award and was the first Scout, from Salford,
to gain the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. He was a member of
the South East Lancashire Scout contingent to the 12th World
Scout Jamboree in Idaho in 1967 and gained the coveted Venture
Scout "Explorer Belt" award in Denmark.
Ann and Graham married in 1979 and have three children:
Heather, aged 25, who is a law graduate and a Trainee Solicitor
and in the process of completing her training contract whilst
working, in private practice, in Walkden and is due to be admitted
as a Solicitor in 2009. Sarah, aged 23, who graduated from
Sheffield University in July 2008 as a Speech and Language Therapist
. Robert, aged 19, who is now in his second year at drama
school in London training to be an actor .
